Raptors and Hares
Time & Location
About the event
David Campbell and Nick Bond will be leading this walk around The Burgh, starting from the grassy triangle on Peppering Lane (TQ041094). This area is a well known hunting ground for birds of prey in late autumn and winter, with possibilities including Marsh and Hen Harriers, Short-eared Owl, Barn Owl, Merlin, Red Kite, Peregrine and Common Buzzard. It's also a fantastic place to clap eyes on some Brown Hares, an emblematic species of the South Downs National Park. There will be a good variety of farmland birds to see too, including a good chance of Grey Partridge.
